Corona and Bowtie Arch Trail - I have hiked many times at Arches National Park and several times at Canyonlands - Island in the Sky section - but I had never done this trail until my last time in the area. It is easy to miss it since it is not in Arches or Canyonlands but is near both. I am including it with my Arches photos since it is not part of a National Park.

This is a wonderful 3 mile round trip trail that is not very difficult other than there are a couple places where you climb with the help of a cable because the slick rock is quite steep, and then you have to climb a short ladder. I don't think this should discourage anyone, although if you have a dog along, the ladder might be difficult.

As you approach the steep cable, you get your first glimpse of the Corona Arch across a gulch. You still have a way to go. You first come to Bowtie Arch which is a pothole-type arch located high above the trail. Continuing, you come to Corona Arch. Go under the arch and you get some wonderful views back the way you came. Don't stop. There is no trail but keep going hugging the edge of the cliff and you will see the wonderful cliffs that show the impact of cascading water shown in slides 16 and 17. I don't think many people go here but this is quite beautiful and unusual. Then return as you came.

The trailhead is about 10 miles down Potash Rd, which follows the north side of the Colorado River west from Hwy. 191. The turnoff is about 4 miles north of Moab.
