Shrine Ridge Trail: Outstanding hike with incredible views.

To find the trailhead, take exit 190 off I70 (between Copper Mountain and Vail). Go past rest stop and take Shrine Ridge Road which is dirt but in good shape. Drive until you see parking lot and restroom for the trailhead. There is a lot of parking which is good since this is a very popular trail.

The trail is 4 miles round trip with almost 1,000 ft. elevation gain. The mountain views that you get through most of the trip are awesome. Trail initially goes down and then starts to climb but most of it is fairly gradual. I was there in July and the wildflowers were glorious. This hike starts by crossing a meadow but then goes through trees and eventually goes past some very large rock formations before getting to the ridge. At the ridge, you can go right or left. I went right and my photos show what you will see if you go that way.
