The Tanks - This is a short (1 mile), easy hike which starts at the end of the Scenic Drive in Capitol Reef National Park. You take the Capitol Gorge trail which is a wide, level trail through tall sandstone cliffs. You will see a sign to The Tanks which is a collection of eroded crevices that collect rainwater. This trail is just .2 miles and does require some climbing but it's easy too. The tanks are interesting but the rock formations that you see along this part of the trail are very different from the rock you see in most of Capitol Reef or even elsewhere in the Southwest.
