Escalante Toadstools: This hike is located on Hwy. 89 between Kanab and Page at about 40 miles east of Kanab. It is at milepost 19.3 on the north side of the road. There is lots of parking.

This hike is easy -- pretty much level and not very long but it has NO shade so if you are doing it in the summer, go early or late. You go about 3/4 mile to the red toadstools. My first time there, I thought this was the end of the trail, but not so. If you go to the left (or west), the trail continues to an area that has toadstools with white columns and brown/red capstones. Don't miss them. As you will see from the photos, there are other very interesting rock formations here
