West Fork Trail

West Fork Trail - This is a beautiful hike of approximately 7 miles, although you can continue up the creek at the end if you are willing to wade. The trailhead is located by going through Oak Creek Canyon about 11 miles north of Sedona. It is accessed through the Call of the Canyon day use area. This is a very popular trail so you need to get there early or parking will likely be full. You have to pay for parking even if you have the Red Rock Pass which covers parking at most trailheads.

The trail goes up canyon winding along the creek. While it is easy, there are many creek crossings. I hiked the trail in October and the water level was low so crossings were easy. It's probably more difficult in the spring. October is a lovely time to do this hike as the trees are turning various shades of red and yellow and accent the beautiful cliffs along the trail. The trail is mostly shaded so it is also a nice one to do when it is hot.
