Zion in April - This is a cautionary tale. One of my most surprising trips to Zion was in mid-April. I thought the weather would be wonderful then. Although I spent a week in the area, most of the week had either rain or snow. While I did not hike there, I thought the snow on the red rock in Kolab Canyon was beautiful. There were plenty of overlooks where you could watch the ever-changing play of light and snow on the red cliffs. Then on my last day, it was 85 degrees and beautiful hiking weather. The last 5 photos were taken on the West Rim Trail in Zion Canyon. I usually camp when I go to Zion and I was glad that on this trip, I was not camping. So this is just a warning to beware of possible extreme weather at that time of year if you are thinking of going to Zion. |
