View Slideshow

Hidden Peak to Mineral Basin - Take the tram from town to Hidden Peak which is at 10,000 feet elevation. From there walk under the Mineral Basin chairlift and head down a dirt road. Follow the signs for Mineral Basin. The road continues down the hill, but the trail branches off it to the right. Mineral Basin is known for its amazing display of wild flowers in July and August. The flowers are interspersed with many kinds of beautiful rocks. The hike is approximately 3 miles long. You descend approximately 700 feet and the climb back up to the tram can leave you breathless unless you are used to high elevations.
