Lake Margaret - This is a relatively easy hike - 4.6 miles round trip. It is located off Hwy. 88 just .5 miles east of Kirkwood Meadows Rd and the trailhead is well marked. This is a very popular, heavily traveled trail. It has a small parking area, so it is good to get there early.

The trail meanders up and down with only about 500 feet elevation gain. On your way to the lake, you pass a creek and 2 ponds along with some beautiful, multicolored granite cliffs. There is some shade which is welcome in the afternoon. There is camping at the lake and you are likely to see several people swimming.
